For most, a headline slot at London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall would be the clear highlight of their career. For Charles Esten, it’s more of a natural progression. His career as an actor and performer has been filled with so many highs, it would be hard to pick a favourite. He played Buddy Holly at a Royal Variety Performance for the Queen, and that was just the start of it!
Recurring roles and guest star appearances in some of the most popular and significant TV shows of the 1990s and 2000s followed: ER, NYPD Blue, Party of Five, Cheers, Married With Children, Big Love, Whose Line Is It Anyway, the American version of The Office, Diagnosis Murder, Star Trek: The Next Generation AND Star Trek: Voyager!
Of course, he’s best known for his role as Deacon Claybourne in CMT’s TV show NASHVILLE, which reignited his musical career.
The phenomenally popular live stage show NASHVILLE IN CONCERT had already seen him perform at the Royal Albert Hall, as well as The O2, The Bluebird, and The Ryman Auditorium. He’s no fly-by-night in that respect; he’s appeared at The Grand Ole Opry 100 times!
Nor does his performance and musicianship rely on the Nashville brand. He recently earned a Guinness World Record title for writing, recording and releasing 54 songs over 54 weeks #EverySingleFriday.
Somehow, he finds time for philanthropy too. His focus is on leukemia and lymphoma in honour of his daughter, Addie, who is a survivor. His family’s Light The Night Walk team – Team Addie – has raised over one million dollars to fight blood cancer.
So, it’s safe to say that Charles ‘Chip’ Esten has quite a performance to give and good stories to tell when he tours the UK. Hot on the heels of dates in Manchester and Glasgow, you’ve still got a chance to catch him, supported by UK rising country pop stars The Adelaides.
He’ll be sure to play his latest single, A Road and A Radio, plus choice cuts from NASHVILLE and his long career.
Esten’s tour, culminating in the headline show at the Royal Albert Hall, is part of Country Music Week, now in it’s third year of championing U.S. and UK country stars in the UK. Other performers that week include Scotty McCreery, Striking Matches and Logan Mize.
