It’s the most wonderful time of the year (as long as you enjoy Christmas-everything from the second Halloween is over). Two Christmas Trees by Dylan Scott unites three generations of his family in a sweet original Christmas song.
Two Christmas Trees by Dylan Scott
Dylan Scott’s father, Scotty Robinson (Freddy Fender/Freddie Hart), co-wrote Two Christmas Trees in the 1980s: “My dad wrote a Christmas song years before I was even born – one I’ve listened to my whole life.”
As an early Christmas gift, Dylan recorded an updated version of the song. Scott’s baritone tribute to the empathy and resilience of children of divorce is topped off by his own young son, Beckett, singing the final line.

One of the positive things about modern music consumption patterns is being able to discover just how deeply people feel connected to songs. With over 30,000 views in three days, there are already a slew of comments. Here are just a few of the most meaningful:
“Beautiful heartfelt song, in tears plus the boy in this video is my grandson ♥️so extremely proud and blessed” – debdalcin11
“This is so sad but so true. Your son makes the whole song. Love it!” – Rainylanealone
“The best Christmas song I’ve ever heard, going in the playlist forever” – nerdyandproud5730
Two Christmas Trees by Dylan Scott: reaction video
The ‘big reveal’ is fascinating. There is no over-the-top social media outburst or heartwarming tears from Robinson. Instead, we witness an understated amused but bemused reaction to the changes: “You did alright [but] you need to let me go over the words with you!”
Scott countered: “I had to take 1980 and bring it more into 2025.” Obviously, we’re going to need to hear the original version so we know whose side to take!
“[He’s] been critiquing me since I could talk! ‘You’re oversinging. You’re singing too hard. You’re playing too hard‘!” – Dylan Scott
The good-natured ribbing between father and grown son can’t obscure the utter pride that Grandad feels when he hears 8-year-old Beckett sing the final line of the song: “He was perfect!”
Overall verdict from the songwriter, dad and grandad: “Sounds like a hit to me!”

About Dylan Scott
Dylan Scott released his third studio album, Easy Does It, earlier in 2025. This led to his sixth career number 1 (two of them came in 2025 alone) with the single This Town’s Been Good To Us, which is about his hometown in Louisiana. What He’ll Never Have is currently working its way up the Top 20.
Scott also had a great year on tour. He has played arenas for the first time, with record-breaking attendance figures.
If you are thinking that the name and the deep voice sounds familiar but you’ve not so up-to-date with the contemporary country scene, it is probably New Truck that you’ve heard before – a lot! That single from 2021 is RIAA Gold certified, with over 82.5 million Spotify plays, 15 million You Tube views, and a striking, explosive video. Wondering about the lyric that made you do a double-take? It’s “fogged up.”
The overall numbers are wild. He’s the fourth most-played country artist in 2025 and he’s amassed nearly five BILLION career streams.
