Music News: Support the NHS with Biffy Clyro!

Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro were all set for a fan pre-sale of tickets for their September/October 2020 UK arena tour when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. The tour hasn’t been cancelled, but they decided to postpone the on-sale date. The band explained: “due to the current uncertainty the time is not right to make tickets available.”

They also pushed the release date of their ninth studio album, A Celebration of Endings, back from May to August 15, to give it a fair shot at promotion. In the meantime, we’ve got the album’s first single, Instant History.

You can still go ahead and pre-order the record, and there are some mighty fine incentives to do that. There’s a Collector’s Edition Boxset with a CD, coloured vinyl, sheet music, art prints and a 20 page collection of photographs, notes and drawings, plus a pre-sale code for the eventual tour. All that for £49.99 isn’t half bad!

Other pre-sale options include a mug, hat, t-shirts, hoody, an indie record store exclusive coloured vinyl (which you can order online through stalwart shops that deserve support in these hard times, like Banquet Records and Piccadilly Records), and a cassette. The cassette only option has sold out already, but you can still get it as a bundle with the CD for £15.99. Respect to the guys for not price-gouging the fans on these items.

Aside from album merch, what caught our eye was the range of Mon The NHS items, with 100% of proceeds going to NHS Charities Together supporting staff and volunteers caring for COVID-19 patients. There’s a white kids t-shirt, black or white adult t-shirts, and a black babygrow to choose from!
