December 2025 Skinny Lister tour: unmissable folk-punk fun (and rum)

Skinny Lister December 2026 tour dates poster

If you’ve seen Skinny Lister before, you already know what to expect from the December 2025 Skinny Lister tour. You already know you don’t want to miss it, so here are the new songs to learn for the inevitable singalongs. If you haven’t seen them before, here are the tour dates. Don’t deny yourself the singular experience of communion through music with folk/punk shanty singalongs and drinking songs, and a flagon of rum to pass round.

A new single, new album AND a December 2025 Skinny Lister tour!

Did anyone else sit through the great sea shanty revival of 2021 a little bemused because they didn’t actually need reviving? Skinny Lister have been doing their part to keep them alive since 2009, building on unbroken folk traditions of hundreds of years. There’s plenty of room at t’table, of course. We’d rather be at the end of the table where the flagon in, that’s all.

Tumbling Into Something single

Skinny Lister aren’t a one-trick pony of course; their latest single is a sweet ballad.

Co-vocalist/lyricist/guitarist/husband Dan Heptinstall explains: “I always feel Lorna’s voice shines on our ballad style tracks, and this track lends itself particularly well to her voice. It’s an optimistic song about tumbling fearlessly forward into life while acknowledging its beauty. It’s about surrendering to the uncertainties of life, and embracing the excitement of the ride. It’s also about new beginnings and second chances.”

“The drums are played with bare hands rather than sticks, and the accordion in this case is used more to add mood than melody, played almost like a synth pad – it leans towards something that sounds a little more Vangelis than traditional folk” adds Dan.

Songs From Yonder album

Don’t worry if you have a particular fondness for those jaunty seafaring, drinking Skinny Lister songs. The latest album has plenty of them too, including previous singles Yorkshire Belle, Set Us Straight and Plough On.

Songs From Yonder was written by Skinny Lister and produced and mixed by Dan Heptinstall. The core tracks were recorded live and left unedited to catch that energy that fantastic live bands often struggle to capture in studio recordings.

The album was mastered in that there London by Frank Arkwright (good Northern name) at Abbey Road Studios. Ooh, hark at you, all fancy like!

Songs From Yonder is out now via Xtra Mile Recordings. You can get the record coloured vinyl, digital, or CD.

Here’s a recorded listening party to prepare you for the forthcoming party on the December 2025 Skinny Lister tour.

We write our own articles because otherwise what’s the point in this, but we do wholeheartedly agree with the press release that Skinny Lister’s second album Down On Deptford Broadway is a classic. So we’re sure there will be plenty of Skinny Lister fan favourites played on tour, like Trouble on Oxford Street, because otherwise what’s the point in anything?
