Ringo Starr takes us on a powerful journey with his 22nd solo album

If you thought Tarragon’s collaborations with Tame Impala, The War on Drugs and Bon Iver folks were pretty impressive, Ringo Starr’s here to say ‘hold my beer.’ Well, he’s more likely to say ‘peace and love, peace and love’ but you know what we mean! Either way, he’s back with a record featuring well-known performers and elite session players, so let’s take a look!

Ringo Starr star ratings

Usually we’d introduce the artist first but the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and nine-time GRAMMY® Award winning musician, actor, writer, model, artist and photographer Ringo Starr is immensely famous, so how about we let the latest ratings do the talking instead?

Ringo Starr: Long Long Road (the album)

Ringo Starr’s 22nd album, Long Long Road, is the second record to be co-written with and produced by T Bone Burnett. Its predecessor, Look Up, topped the UK Official Country Chart.

No pressure, or at least none worth worrying about, because this new album has stellar collabs with Sheryl Crow, Sarah Jarosz, Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle and St. Vincent.

“I’ve loved Ringo’s playing and his singing for my whole life, and I always heard Ringo as a Texas artist; the way he played felt just like Texas music to me. Ringo Starr is a master musician and a recording artist of the highest caliber, and I wanted to surround him with these young masters, bringing in some of this extraordinary young energy that’s happening around Nashville for both of these records.”

That’s why recordings took place at various Nashville as well as L.A. studios. True to form – all of Starr’s parts were recorded at his home studio, Roccabella West, in Los Angeles.

The album features a rotating cast of veteran session players, including bassist Dennis Crouch (Bob Dylan, T Bone Burnett), pedal steel guitarist Paul Franklin (George Strait, Mark Knopfler), multi-instrumentalist David Mansfield (Bob Dylan, Bruce Hornsby), keyboardist/arranger Patrick Warren (Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen) and multi-instrumentalist Rory Hoffmann (Ricky Skaggs, Dolly Parton).

“I recorded two Carl Perkins songs with The Beatles, and both T Bone and I wanted one on this record, and he found this beautiful track I’d never heard before, I Don’t See Me In Your Eyes Anymore.”

Long Long Road was co-produced by Daniel Tashian & Bruce Sugar. It was released on April 24, 2026, on UMe.

The title track, featuring Sheryl Crow and Daniel Tashian, comes with a special video. Francesca Gregorini, who is Starr’s stepdaughter and an acclaimed director, took the helm. The Long Long Road video features never-before-seen photos from Starr’s life animated by technology.

“We’re talking about this Long Long Road I’ve been on…starting in Liverpool, being in several bands, then with The Beatles – all those stops on your walk of life, it’s so far out. What would have happened if I’d emigrated to Texas to be near Lightnin’ Hopkins?  We don’t know. I could have taken another path but I took this one and ended up here.”
