Songs For New Year - Dashboard Confessional

As the year draws to a close, we’re taking a look at new songs for new year – both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Born Without Bones – Together We’ll Ring In The New Year
Parks N’ Rec – The Year That Everything Changed
Kenny Foster and Ags Connolly – Auld Lang Syne
Alyssa Bonagura – Last Night In December
Dashboard Confessional – Here’s To Moving On

Born Without Bones – Together We’ll Ring In The New Year

Born Without Bones really understood the assignment – they’ve released an entire EP of New Years themed songs! They’re celebrating the release of NYE on Pure Noise Records by releasing their cover of Motion City Soundtrack’s new year classic Together We’ll Ring In The New Year.

Parks N’ Rec – The Year That Everything Changed

Parks N’ Rec used the final release of the year to reflect on the year that’s passed, especially as it saw them experience the culture shock of finishing a 9 month trip around Central and South America and ending up in New York City.

Kenny Foster and Ags Connolly – Auld Lang Syne

Friends Kenny Foster and Ags Connolly collaborated remotely to record the classic Auld Lang Syne with an Anglo-American country twist.

Foster explained “[Connolly is] the kind of guy you wanna have a pint in a pub with … so why NOT put our sensitive melancholy into a proper reflectively nostalgic drinking song to mark another strange New Year? It just makes sense. I think you’ll agree. It feels like something comfortingly normal.”

Alyssa Bonagura – Last Night In December

Hot on the heels of marking pancreatic cancer awareness month, Alyssa Bonagura is back with a ballad about New Year’s Eve. She co-produced the song with Tom Jordan from the band Seaforth. She’s holding a Q&A on Instagram at 10pm GMT on December 31, 2021.

Dashboard Confessional – Here’s To Moving On

For many, 2021 has been another year to forget. Dashboard Confessional are with you on that. Founder and frontman Chris Carrabba explained “it’s been one hell of a year for us all (and then some). I hope this song can be a small reminder that no matter what challenges life might throw at us today, it’s always worth fighting for a better tomorrow. I feel so very fortunate to be able to share this with you. To the incredible team at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for making that possible.” He’s referring to his treatment and a long period of rehabilitation following a serious motorbike crash, which left him needing to regain the strength to walk, dress, and play guitar.

Here’s To Moving On will feature on the new Dashboard Confessional album, All The Truth That I Can Tell, due out in February 2022.
