State Champs: new album out now!

State Champs Kings Of The New Age album cover

‘Eventually’ is usually what fans say when the long-awaited fourth album finally drops. Pop punkers State Champs have leaned into it and owned the word..

The song Eventually seemingly explores a relationship conflict but turned out to be about inner turmoil.

“In the past few years, I’ve had my first real experience with mental health issues, as well as some physical battles that have affected my thought process on the future. This song is about facing those things head on. I’ve never been one to open up about these things, so I hope if anyone relates to Eventually even in the slightest, it lets them know that it’s ok to have these feelings and to talk about them. Writing this song motivated me to take the necessary steps to get my mind and body back to a healthy place, and I hope those listening are able to do the same.”

The band’s new album, Kings of The New Age, is out on May 13, 2022, on Pure Noise Records. The record includes a surprising array of guest vocalists: country artist Mitchell Tenpenny, Chrissy Constanza (Against The Current), Ben Barlow (Neck Deep), and Four Year Strong.

“Kings of The New Age is our fourth album, the one that we spent the most time on, and the one that makes the biggest statement

The Ben Barlow collab is on the album’s first single, Everybody But You. The video is also star-studded. Eagle-eyed fans will spot Kelen Capener (The Story So Far), rapper Lil Aaron, and MTV‘s Teen Wolf actor Tyler Possey.

Meanwhile, Act Like That features Mitchell Tenpenny.

Act Like That is the most ‘out of the box’ song for us on the album. We had a lot of fun experimenting with some poppier elements, but it was challenging at first to bring the right level of SC energy to level it out. We hit a moment in the studio when we definitely found that balance, and we’re very excited to share this dance-y, rockin’, lyrically dynamic love song that makes you wanna jump around.”
