The Driver Era will take you Places then Fade

The Driver Era in shadow

The Driver Era’s Ross Lynch stars as Harvey in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and it was this commitment that allowed his brother and bandmate, Rocky Lynch, to step into the spotlight with the band’s single Places.

Rocky wrote, recorded and produced Places while Ross was in Vancouver filming Sabrina. Rocky then starred in and directed the video with assistance from his brother Ryland. Yes, there’s a lot of talent in the Lynch family, and they’re used to working together; Ryland managed R5, Ross and Rocky’s previous pop-rock band with two other siblings, and toured with them as a DJ.

Places demonstrates the wisdom of Ross and Rocky’s decision to explore more innovative and experimental sounds as The Driver Era.

Cousin Gordy De St Jeor filmed the video and Rocky’s girlfriend, actress Alex Hopkins, co-starred. Keeping it in the family clearly worked as the cinematic video is intriguing and compelling, enhancing the alt sound with trippy imagery.

Places comes hot on the heels of the duo’s chilled summery jam, Take Me Away, with another video helmed by their brother Ryland and cousin Gordy.

It was followed swiftly by new single Fade. Ross explained: “This song is actually a few years old, but it just took some time for people to believe in it enough to put it out. I’m really happy the song is finally coming out. The song is all about the inevitability of fading away…making the most of every moment.”

The band got a boost in the UK when their retro banger, A Kiss, was picked up by BBC Radio 1 DJs Annie Mack, Mollie & Matt, and Jack Saunders. The song has been streamed over 13 million times!
