Franco-American art-pop sibling duo Faux Real are continuing their stratospheric rise to prominence and influence by collaborating with Wet Leg. The Faux Real Wet Leg remix of the 2024 single Walking Away From My Demons confidently heralds a North American tour (and we mean north – congratulations, Montreal!) before Faux Real head over to Europe and then five dates in the UK.

The Faux Real Wet Leg remix of Walking Away From My Demons

Grammy award and BRIT award winning band Wet Leg added their own unmistakeable preppy-cool aesthetic to this remix of Faux Real’s 2024 single Walking Away From My Demons. With amended lyrics, a new vocalist, and a completely different vibe, the song is stripped back and rebuilt. Still catchy and hypnotic, but in a completely different way – almost unrecognisable, in fact. Yet it makes sense. Fans of both bands are offered reason to be interested in the Faux Real Wet Leg remix.

So, how did this collaboration come about? Faux Real explained: “After we opened for Wet Leg on their first U.S. tour in the [Autumn] of 2022, we became fast friends. So when the chance to collaborate came up, it just felt like a no-brainer. Rhian [Teasdale’s] deadpan verses play perfectly against the frantic energy of Josh’s nightcore rework, giving the clubby beat this cool confidence…finally taking control over the title’s demons. Sometimes the only way to shake off feelings of inadequacy is to just get up and go, however underprepared. Sow, reap, repeat.”

You can compare and contrast the original (real) Faux Real version of Walking Away From My Demons single here. The sun-bathed video sees the sibling duo dressed as angels with padlock necklaces, taking turns to pace on a ‘Star Power’ walking pad in a concrete urban landscape. Then the undeniably catchy chorus kicks in and, well, you’ll just have to see the exuberant dance routine for yourself! It’s definitely worth a watch. Fair warning: these lads will be staring into your soul forever.

Faux Real biography

Faux Real – brothers Elliott and Virgil Arndt – are based in Los Angeles. They exist to blend, test, challenge, and entertain. They’re blurring the lines between fake and real by merging post-punk, new wave, pop, and dance vibes to see what works best. Think Erasure crossed with Arkells, Electric Six, and Talking Heads (plus a sprinkle of whichever DJ Sammy club classic you secretly prefer to the original).

After five singles in quick succession, Faux Real’s long-awaited debut album, Faux Ever, was named as one of the Albums Of The Year by BBC Radio 6 Music. High praise indeed. Famous fans of the duo include Paramore, Duran Duran, Beck, Metronomy, and – of course – Wet Leg. As well as the aforementioned U.S. tour with Wet Leg, Faux real previously toured with Los Bitchos.
